Starting the Day Off Right

What I am hearing from you guys is that you think I should eat healthy stuff, drink water, walk, and exercise.  So here's a lowdown on what I'm doing.  I joined Inches-A-Weigh, a women's weight loss center.  I go every morning, usually six times a week.  I start with the seven toning tables that are making me long and lean and then I hit the bikes or the ellipticals for 20-30 minutes of cardio.  What makes the place really great are the friends I meet there every morning and the ladies who work there who try, Lord they try, to keep us in line.  It's really a great place.

I'm making better choices with my food.  I do drink lots of water.  I'm grocery shopping.  I'm cooking.  I can drive past a drive through.  All of these are new skills for me.

It's working.  I'm weighing in the morning.  If all this doesn't work, I can always staple my lips together!

  1. Suze!! I'm so proud of you!! The exercise will make it happen faster for you and the water (you can also drink crystal light for some variety and to make up the water amount daily). Iced Tea with sweet and low and lemon is great. Salads: you have such good varieties of salad greens these days and it is a good way to get a bunch of vegetables down at the same time. Serve your salad dressing on the side and dip your fork into it before dipping into your salad and you will only get a taste of the dressing that way. Nuts and fruits are good mixed in also. Meats that are no larger than the size of your closed fist are okay. Use cooking spray instead of oil if you decide to wok some vegetables. Get a Nuwave - you can grill, roast, bake, saute, and just about everything. A friend of mine gave me one and it has also with it a low calorie cookbook. It's great for those times that you do not want to grill outside or you can't get the dude to do it either. And you can roast your own chickens in it and not have to pay top dollar for them at the grocery store. I'm sending you our Tuesday newspaper that has some good articles in it about losing weight - it seems to be a segment they are doing each Tuesday so I will send those to you.
I'll try to find some of my weight watchers recipes for you - we had some good ones and they tasted great. I'm so glad you are cooking as you can really better control what goes in - I love Lean Cuisines but you have to watch the salt content on so many things already made. Also, busy hands mean you can't nibble. Take out some old projects - counted cross stitch or needlepoint keep you out of trouble.
I am so inspired by you. I am starting my own
regimen this Friday 5-1-09. I have been way too bad for my own self - no exercise at all - nada - so I am starting back on my walking and water drinking and cutting out some really bad eating habits that I have been endulging in. I may not be able to cut out my pinot grigio as after all, I am a mortgage broker, and I can't quit my job or find another one at this point. You cannot do my job and not drink but I will cut back and get out my needlepoint and just stab my needle at the canvas to take out some of the frustration. And look at all the left over money we will have each month since we are not being bad. Looks like new clothes money to me! Love you girl. Steady she goes!!!Martha

  3. I wondered about that Inches a Weigh place. I bet if you're there, you have the place doubled over in laughter. What a good time!

  5. Fantastically PROUD of you! I promise this will work! Just wish I could join in for a day of laughs! Jo Ann and I hired a personal trainer - OMG! We had first session with her Tuesday 5/5. Began having a little trouble climbing steps about 4 pm yesterday...duh! Better today. We walked 20 min yesterday, and thought we were both going to loose our legs, then went to bikes for another 10. Trainer looks exactly like Susan Saradon (sp?). Soooo, I told Jo Ann we were probably in a movie or about two 50-ish gals trying to get fit...IT IS GOING TO BE A COMEDY! Please don't miss it at the boxoffice! HA HA HA Actually it would make a great movie - we could maybe "laugh some of it off"! I think it should star you as well. Let's find a producer, and sell him our idea, and get RICH! We could then get those houses we are suited for! More on the sunrise another day! Bye for now...

  6. You think that making a movie would distract me enough to NOT eat?
